About Antietam Photography

Antietam National Battlefield

Antietam represents what we as a people are capable of in loyally preserving the fields where brave men fought so earnestly, so fiercely for their convictions. Through photography, I hope to honor those men, Yankee and Confederate, who answered the call of their country, to struggle against injustice, to die for their convictions.

As an amateur historian who frequents the battlefield several times a week, photography has provided me new insights into the battle itself, the generals on the field, the movements, the weapons, the heroic people of Sharpsburg, and most importantly the men themselves.

Certainly not all my photography is related specifically to Antietam or the Civil War. I invite you to explore my entire portfolio.

Philosophy

I believe photographs should be captured by the photographer and the camera, not software. While post-processing is certainly a tool to be utilized, it should never replace the lens, the conditions of the day or the photographer's eye. Software is best when used to refine a photograph rather than to effectively create one.

I live in Keedysville, Maryland with my wife and two children. If you would like to contact me for comment or further inquiries, I would love to hear from you.
